.@austingmackell No. *They* explicitly and thorough multiple public channels pushed this stuff. Emails are also problem, no public interest.

So, WL which claimed I was an Erdogan apologist, so can't even Google, is also claiming I fabricated the story. I can add one detail now.
-
Two parts. The emails that Wikileaks presents as "AKP emails" are not. They are a large, not even secret, mailing list of regular people.
-
There are private information in these, too, as people plead for jobs in emails TO ruling party members, etc. But most are NOTHINGBURGER.
-
They are not whisteblowing; and articles reporting on them have either not no legwork, or can't even Google.https://twitter.com/zeynep/status/757807700776366080 …
-
Wikileaks then dumped private info on 20+ million people from Turkey (now deleted at link) via multiple channels.pic.twitter.com/GjMm22EZTO
-
I didn't at first provide the how because I hoped to get things a little less accessible. But I know it's mostly futile. The damage is done.
-
Wikileaks defense is "they did not publish". People they worked with on this "leak" put them up & WL repeatedly advertised it to millions.
-
Every party to this "leak" pretending it was some sort of
#OPTurkey. Congrats. You published nothingburger emails, plus a stalker directory. -
And no, this is not some old leak being reheated, the one from 2009. This is new, and contains much more dangerous information on people.
-
But research isn't strong here. I'm an Erdogan apologist, the emails are "AKP" emails, & the whole thing is a big blow to the ruling party.
-
But Wikileaks blocked me. I pointed out Turkey's leading anti-censorship activists, lawyers condemned this "leak."https://twitter.com/zeynep/status/757732765349638145 …
-
I write on Turkey & censorship *under my name*. Meanwhile, since the article, faceless cowards tweet at me a lot.

I stand by my whole article. The emails are NOTHINGBURGER with private info and WL DUMPED 20+ million people's info, nary a concern.
-
It's clear to me that this crowd does not stop and discuss for 10 minutes, does not Google for 15. Reporters parroting them: it's on you.
-
A "leak" met with horror by people in Turkey who spent their lives fighting censorship was reported as "WL censored" in the West. For shame.

I appreciate your work here. A friend who I know IIRC tried to warn them about this.
-
That makes it worse. I also heard source of the files asked them to wait, but that's not enough. Should not have happened.
-
I'll tag
@EisMC2 if she wants to talk about it in further detail with you. I might not like Huffpo etc but this shit's important. -
She's getting attacked from Anon-types like you are for your work.
-
A pity. I wrote this—and have taken all the crap—hoping people learn from it. Don't rush; don't dump; team up w/ locals.

The whole thing was wrong. Emails are mundane emails of ordinary citizens, some real private info.
-
The databases are private, sensitive info of millions of ordinary people; and are not just and old leak.
